Online process to apply PAN Card for Students

  • Log on to the website of NSDL and UTIITSL through using link: https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/pan/index.html or http://www.myutiitsl.com/PANONLINE
  • If a student who is applying for a PAN card is a new applicant, then he or she needs all the required information in Form 49 A to be filled and submit the same.
  • After submission,  the applicant will receive an acknowledgment number of 15 digits.  The applicant needs to save the acknowledgment and take a printout of the same for future references.
  • Along with form submission, one also needs to submit the processing fees of PAN Card. If the applicant is residing in India,  the processing fee is Rs 110 inclusive of GST and for residents, outside India,  the processing fee is 1020. In the case of the demand draft, it should be payable at Mumbai.
  • Two passport size photos need to be affixed in the acknowledgment form having either left-hand thumb impressions or signature. Documents that need to be attached along with the form are identity proof, address proof, payment proof and date of birth proof. All documents should be duly signed and send it to the Income Tax Department.
  • After making  a successful submission, the applicant needs to be ensured that the Acknowledgment form along with documents with making successful payment should reaches Income Tax Office within 15 working days from the date application filed.
  • After that acknowledgement form will be sent to the Income Tax Office for further processing and PAN card will be issued by the Income Tax Department of India after the application is verified and processed by the concerned authorities.

Offline process to apply for PAN Card for students

All those who are looking to apply offline for PAN card for student needs to fill manually form 49A. Steps to fill the form are as follows:

Step 1: Download a copy of Form 49A from the website of NSDL or UTIITSL

Step 2: Depending on the age at the time of applying the form, select the option for a Minor PAN card as given in the form.

Step 3: Carefully fill the form and submit along with the documents required which were duly signed or having thumb impression at the nearest TIN facilitation center.

Step 4: You will receive an acknowledgment copy from the center and PAN card will be issued by the Income Tax Department of India after the application is verified and processed by the concerned authorities.

Process to make corrections in PAN Card for Student

Applicants get the PAN updated in the same procedure to file fresh PAN Card application for students. As applicant needs to click on the “Changes or Correction in PAN details” to execute the process. Applicant can get their name changed if misprinted or address or date of birth through visiting the website of UTIITSL or NSDL and get the new printed PAN card.

Advantages of having PAN Card for students
